This week we are solid tine aerifying fairways. This will help with compaction, move water through soil, and help with nutrients. We are fertilizing April 3rd wall to wall, so we should have all fairways done by then. Check out Compass Pointe Golf Club facebook page for a video of what we are doing!

Warm weather is eventually coming at some point. The crew and myself is ready for green grass and growth. We will be doing a fertilization app on the whole course beginning of April to kick everything in gear. Soil samples have been taken from fairways and greens and we are waiting to get the results back and see where we stand now as far as pH. Proper pH levels is the key to having lush healthy grass and we are working hard to get the celebration Bermuda lush and thriving.

What a great week its been for golf! The rest of the week looks just as good also.
So far this week we have completed a few drain issues on #1, #10, #13, #16, #17, #18.

Now is the time to trim all the Pink Muhley Grasses, we will be starting those around the Clubhouse area and parking lot, then finishing up on the course.

Next weeks temps are going to be nice for golf, high 60's all week. We will be doing some projects around the course dealing with drains. There are a couple that will be dug out so we will have it marked ground under repair just in case. Other projects include planting of native grasses in areas and finishing up prep work for sod.

Gearing up for the spring

My name is Zack Maultsby I have been working at the course since the grow-in. Compass Pointe is taking off and I am excited to be a part of it. I started this blog and along with my facebook page ( Compass Pointe Golf Course Maintenance) to keep members up to date on day to day operations and projects going on around the course. Also I hope to provide information as to why we do management practices that we do at times such as covering greens in the winter time and aerifying greens in the summer. I look forward to the start of this blog and with information from myself as well as Marty Walker and Rick Robbins, I hope we can help inform and communicate with everyone.
